BJP Dominates Eastern Maharashtra Municipal Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strengthened its influence across eastern Maharashtra by emerging as the single largest party in the municipal polls held in Nagpur, Akola, and Amravati. Meanwhile, the Congress party became the top performer in Chandrapur.
In Nagpur, BJP made a significant showing by securing 102 out of 151 seats, marking their fourth consecutive term. Their ally, Shiv Sena, managed to win only a single seat. Congress, meanwhile, achieved a more modest performance with 34 seats, followed by AIMIM with six and the Indian Muslim League with four.
In Chandrapur, Congress led with 27 of the 66 seats, followed closely by BJP with 23. The results underscored the BJP's decisive wins in major regions including Amravati and Akola, highlighting a political landscape increasingly dominated by the party in this part of Maharashtra.
