In Taiwan, a journalist has been detained amid accusations of bribing military officers for information to be given to mainland China. The Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office announced the detention following a court order, involving a television reporter known as Lin and several current and retired military officers.
Taiwanese prosecutors allege that Lin paid military officers for sensitive data, continuing the island's vigilance against Chinese infiltration. The incident emerges as China escalates military activities near Taiwan, reacting to significant arms sales to the island by Washington.
This development draws attention to Taiwan's national security, with raids conducted on the reporter's and military personnel's premises. However, CTi TV, employing Lin, claims no knowledge of the case details, appealing for a just judicial process, and affirming its offices were not subjected to raids.
