Political Shake-Up: BJP Gains from Shiv Sena's Internal Turmoil

In a significant political development, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has experienced a considerable setback as key members defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This shift follows the BJP's recent power consolidation in the Badlapur Municipal Council.
Prominent local figures, including Praveen Raut, deputy chief of Shiv Sena's Badlapur city unit, and Ganesh Lamture, husband of a Shiv Sena corporator, have joined the BJP. This trend reflects wider dissatisfaction within the party ranks, aggravated by alleged dynastic politics.
BJP MLA Kisan Kathore attributed the defections to attempts to counteract the dynastic nature of Shiv Sena's decision-making. The internal unrest within Shiv Sena, partly due to a 'co-opted councillor' issue, has led many to leave, with former ally Raut citing sustained neglect over 25 years of service as a reason for his move.
