Ahead of critical elections in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday unveiled a 16-member core committee dedicated to the Assembly constituencies falling under the Barasat Lok Sabha seat in North 24 Parganas district.
The committee's formation highlights the TMC's strategy to consolidate its position against the resurgent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the region. Minister Rathin Ghosh has been appointed convenor, with former minister Jyotipriyo Mallick serving as co-convenor, illustrating a strong leadership lineup aimed at strengthening the party's foothold.
Other notable members include Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, current minister Sujit Bose, and Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation chairman Sabyasachi Dutta. A party source indicated that the committee, with its strategic impetus, aims to effectively address and navigate the challenges posed by the BJP in the upcoming elections.
