White House border czar Tom Homan on Sunday dismissed Democratic demands to reform ICE, amidst a growing backlash over the agency's enforcement tactics. The controversy comes as bipartisan talks over homeland security funding are gridlocked.

Democratic lawmakers are intensifying efforts to implement changes to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Republicans, however, accuse them of political posturing, citing their refusal to support a Department of Homeland Security funding bill. On CBS' "Face the Nation", Homan labeled the demands as "unreasonable", mentioning he is not directly involved in the negotiations concerning ICE reforms.

Democrats have presented a list of ten demands aimed at curbing racial profiling and enforcing judicial oversight in ICE operations. Homan refuted claims of racial profiling, maintaining that actions are based on "reasonable suspicion". Meanwhile, the partial shutdown of DHS on Saturday hasn't halted its essential functions, yet ongoing political strife keeps both parties at an impasse.
