In the latest Umreth assembly bypoll developments, BJP candidate Harshadbhai Parmar has maintained a commanding lead over his rival, Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan of Congress. According to the latest vote-counting trends, Parmar was ahead by more than 26,000 votes.

The votings are taking place at BJVM College in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, under strict security measures. With more rounds still to be counted, Parmar received 69,851 votes compared to Chauhan's 43,185, indicating a near-certain victory.

The bypoll was held in the wake of the death of Govind Parmar, the sitting BJP MLA. Harshad Parmar, his son and first-time election candidate, appears poised to retain the Umreth seat for BJP with a significant lead over the Congress candidate.
