In a significant political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party's Jahar Chakraborti clinched victory in the Dharmanagar Assembly bypoll held in Tripura on Monday, securing a commanding 18,920-vote lead over the nearest competitor, CPI(M)'s Amitabha Datta.

With Chakraborti garnering 24,291 votes compared to Datta's 6,001, the bypoll underscored BJP's robust presence in the region, following the demise of Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen.

Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed profound gratitude to Dharmanagar's electorate for their resounding endorsement, emphasizing the party's commitment to fostering development and prosperity in the constituency. The victory raises BJP's tally to 33 in the 60-member Assembly, bolstered by allies TMP and IPFT.
