In a tense electoral atmosphere, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee made a fervent plea to her party candidates and agents, urging them not to abandon counting centers as early trends suggested a BJP lead in the state.
In a video message during vote counting, Banerjee advised TMC workers to stay vigilant and maintain morale. As the BJP was ahead in 184 seats compared to TMC's 93, she insisted her party still had a fighting chance, being ahead in 170 seats, and urged supporters to remain hopeful.
Additionally, Banerjee claimed there was a deliberate delay by the Election Commission and BJP in declaring results where TMC was leading, a potential strategy to hinder her party's progress. With the BJP nearing the majority mark in the 294-member assembly, the political dynamic in the state may be shifting.
