The political landscape in West Bengal remains tumultuous as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Rahul Sinha has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of fomenting internal violence. Sinha specifically blamed TMC's 'Harmad Bahini' for the unrest, while reiterating that BJP members have been instructed to avoid violent actions. Sinha called for police intervention to address disruptions within TMC ranks.
In an interview with ANI, Sinha stated, "All violence is being perpetrated by TMC's 'Harmad Bahini'. We have directed our party workers not to be a part of any violence. But TMC workers are attacking each other due to the factionalism within. That is why this situation has occurred." Meanwhile, BJP MP Saumitra Khan noted that authorities are actively pursuing those responsible for the violence, regardless of their political affiliations.
This comes as the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a directive demanding zero tolerance for post-poll violence in the state. The ECI's action follows the vandalism of a TMC office in Asansol, coinciding with BJP's electoral victories. Reports of similar incidents at a TMC office in Howrah have exacerbated political tensions amid ongoing clashes between BJP and TMC supporters.
