In a surprising turn of events, Russian President Vladimir Putin has hinted at a possible conclusion to the war in Ukraine. On a visit to Kyiv, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius expressed skepticism, suggesting Putin's remarks might be a strategic distraction from Russia's own weaknesses.
During his recent statements, Putin mentioned potential negotiations for new security arrangements in Europe, possibly involving Germany's former chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. Pistorius pointed out that Putin has the power to end the conflict but chooses not to, fueling concerns of deceptive tactics.
Despite a U.S.-led initiative resulting in a three-day ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia, trust issues persist. Both nations have accused each other of violating the ceasefire, overshadowing prospects for lasting peace.
