The decision over the Leader of Opposition (LoP) appointment in Kerala's Assembly has been put on hold, announced CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan. His statements came post the CPI(M) Polit Bureau meeting held in New Delhi, where it was clarified that the issue would be handled later in Kerala.
Govindan stated that the decision to choose a Deputy Leader of Opposition would also be resolved in the state, highlighting the CPI's ambition for the post. The matter, along with the Leader of Opposition role, were reportedly not discussed in the Polit Bureau meeting.
Former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan refrained from commenting on his potential candidacy as LoP, amidst speculation about former finance minister K N Balagopal potentially leading the front. The CPI(M)-led LDF currently holds 35 seats after their recent electoral defeat, whereas the Congress-led UDF secured 102 seats.
