Congress's Vijay Wadettiwar has alleged that 23 Congress corporators from Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts have gone incommunicado after being enticed with Rs 5 lakh each, ahead of the June 18 Maharashtra Legislative Council elections.
Labelling the actions as 'horse-trading,' Wadettiwar suspects the hand of a ruling party MLA in the affair. In response, Congress is taking steps to issue whips and disqualify these defecting corporators. Wadettiwar also criticized the BJP-led state government for failing onion farmers, who suffer from plummeting prices, and expressed skepticism over a promised crop loan waiver, noting that no formal decision has been issued.
