M A Baby, the general secretary of CPI(M), has condemned the Enforcement Directorate's raids on the residences of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others, calling them politically motivated. Speaking in Delhi, he labeled the raids a 'heinous attack' and vowed to prove their political motivation to the public.
Baby cited reports suggesting involvement of two current cabinet ministers in receiving money from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL). He emphasized the need for investigation into these allegations and questioned the motive behind the raids. He recalled Vijayan's historical resilience facing political adversity, suggesting the CPI(M) would not be cowed by such tactics.
Posting on X, Baby queried whether the Congress-led United Democratic Front in Kerala had any role in these raids, hinting at potential political coordination. The ED's actions follow the Kerala High Court's decision to allow the investigation into a money laundering case involving Vijayan's daughter.
