Macron Stands Firm Against U.S. Tariff Threats
French President Emmanuel Macron has declared that France will not succumb to threats from U.S. President Trump regarding 100% tariffs on French wine. This response follows a demand for France to eliminate its digital tax on American tech companies, which Macron argues is a matter for European law.
French President Emmanuel Macron has firmly stated that France will not yield to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats of imposing 100% tariffs on French wine.
This comes as Trump demands that France eliminate its digital tax on American tech giants. Macron, speaking in an interview on France's TF1 channel, maintained that the tax is legally grounded within European law.
“This digital tax, decided by Europeans and implemented by several countries, is part of our law,” Macron asserted, stressing that the U.S. does not dictate European legislative matters.
