Southeast Asia stands out as a region highly vulnerable to natural disasters but remarkably well-prepared to handle them, according to a new analysis unveiled on Thursday.
The Gallup survey for Lloyd's Register Foundation revealed that despite frequent earthquakes, typhoons, and other hazards, Southeast Asians feel the most prepared globally.
Benedict Vigers, a research consultant with Gallup, explained that the region's preparedness stems from widespread early-warning systems, community approaches, and strong regional cooperation. The survey also highlighted that wealth does not necessarily determine a region's disaster readiness.
