Wolf Attacks in Mahsi: Increased Incidents and Animal Capture Efforts

A 9-year-old boy and a 55-year-old man were injured in separate wolf attacks in Mahsi tehsil, according to police reports on Sunday. Paras, aged 9, was attacked while sleeping outside his home in Pure Dildarsingh village on Saturday night.
A similar incident occurred in Dariakutti in Maikupur Gram Sabha early Sunday morning when Punnilal, 55, was also attacked while sleeping outdoors. Both victims are currently hospitalized and are out of danger.
Divisional Commissioner Shashibhushan Lal Shushil reported that the forest team has only captured four out of six wolves involved. Villagers are collaborating with officials to track and capture the remaining animals using drones and thermal sensors as part of 'Operation Bhedia'.
Since March, wolf attacks have been prevalent in Mahsi, intensifying from July 17 during the rainy season. These attacks have resulted in seven fatalities and around 30 injuries. Families of deceased victims are receiving compensation, with pending investigations underway for the remaining cases.
