Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Monday that the draft Master Plan for Delhi-2041 (MPD) is currently under review and will be notified shortly.
Addressing the press regarding the first 100 days of the Modi government's third term, Khattar cited difficulties in finalizing the MPD. He noted that public suggestions are being considered in the draft's preparation.
The MPD's approval has been pending for one-and-a-half years. In February last year, Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena approved the draft, emphasizing inclusive development, sustainability, and innovative solutions like transit-oriented development hubs, land pooling, heritage rejuvenation, and city regeneration.
Despite approval from various authorities, the HUA ministry has yet to give its final nod. Prepared by the Delhi Development Authority, the MPD is a statutory document essential for city development, offering a comprehensive framework for future growth. The plan, rooted in lessons from past implementations, aims to guide the city's development strategically and enablingly.
