A significant weather event, termed a 'mega' western disturbance, has alleviated ongoing concerns in the Kashmir Valley by significantly increasing rainfall over the past few days. The unexpected precipitation has reduced the rainfall deficit in the region from a staggering 80% to a more manageable 42%, according to local authorities.
Statistics revealed by the weather office highlighted that areas such as Udhampur and Ganderbal received rainfall significantly above normal levels. Specifically, Udhampur saw precipitation 1,891% above normal, while Ganderbal experienced a 511% increase.
Despite this recent respite, experts underscore the persistent threat of climate change.
