Rains lashed the national capital Wednesday evening, bringing down temperatures and providing much-needed relief to residents enduring the sweltering heat.
The maximum temperature for the day recorded was 36.5 degrees Celsius, significantly 2.8 degrees below the season's average, while the minimum temperature stood at 24.8 degrees Celsius, marginally 0.3 degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD had forecasted rain accompanied by thunderstorms, and by the end of the day, the city's air quality fell into the 'moderate' category, with an AQI of 153, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Thursday's weather is expected to see a slight shift with highs around 37 degrees Celsius.
