China faces severe flooding after relentless rains across multiple provinces, resulting in historical water level breaches. China is grappling with severe flooding across various regions following unprecedented heavy rains, authorities warned. Flash flood alerts span provinces including Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, and Guangxi. The timing marks the year's first red alert, as reported by Xinhua.

The torrential rainstorms, attributed to climate change, have significantly impacted southern Hunan, causing the Lishui River to overflow past critical levels for the first time since 1998. This weather has exposed vulnerabilities within the country's infrastructure and its population.

In Chongqing, floodwaters have submerged sections of the city, sweeping away vehicles and leading to power and water outages. Evacuations are underway in Pengshui county and other affected areas, with relentless rain causing several rivers to exceed alert levels.
