Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, announced that India has evolved into a global leader in science and technology over the past decade. This transformation is attributed to a political climate conducive to scientific risk-taking and innovation, according to Singh's address at a press conference.
During the event, he emphasized that the last 11 years have seen technology propel India's growth story. India is now a leader rather than a follower in technology, setting global best practices. This shift is credited to post-2014 political support that allowed experimentation without guaranteed success.
Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, echoed Singh's sentiments, lauding the role of policy reforms and national missions in the nation's scientific advancements. Initiatives such as the National Quantum Mission and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation have played crucial roles in consolidating this progress.
