Flash floods and landslides, spurred by relentless rainfall, have caused significant damage across Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the loss of crucial infrastructures including a bridge and several shops in Kanon village, Kullu. Officials have declared a state of emergency, closing educational institutions in several subdivisions to protect students.
In Shimla, a severe landslide forced the evacuation of around 40 individuals, including government officials. The disaster resulted in uprooted trees and damaged infrastructure. Congress leaders and ministers, such as Rajesh Dharmani and others, vacated their residences in response to the ongoing environmental threats.
The continuous rains have led the Kinnaur district administration to call off the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra. With heavy rainfall affecting numerous regions, resulting in the closure of 357 roads and disruptions in power and water supply, public safety remains the priority. Weather forecasts suggest more rain, prompting authorities to issue precautionary advisories.
