Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched an ambitious initiative to expedite the construction of welfare housing for the state's underprivileged communities. He has set forth a challenging deadline, urging officials to complete one million homes by March 2026.
In a directive aimed at ensuring timely completion, Naidu instructed authorities to categorize the housing projects into A, B, and C for effective execution. He also emphasized the importance of preparing a list of homeless families within 15 days and identifying appropriate land for beneficiaries in both rural and urban regions.
The state government has earmarked over Rs 2,013 crore for the housing projects this fiscal year, facilitating infrastructure enhancements in numerous layouts. Additional funds are also being distributed to bolster the housing initiatives under the central schemes like PMAY-Urban and PMAY-Gramin. This is a significant step towards fulfilling the government's commitment to 'Housing for All' by 2022.
