With the India Meteorological Department forecasting heavy rainfall due to an approaching cyclonic storm, Tamil Nadu's Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has mobilized resources to manage potential emergencies.

Chief Minister M K Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin are actively monitoring the situation, providing senior officials with directives to implement precautionary measures. As the northeast monsoon becomes active, widespread rainfall has been observed, prompting the CM to ensure that preventive actions are in place, particularly in low-lying areas prone to water stagnation. The GCC has readied 1,436 motor pumps, 150 high-capacity pumps, and numerous vehicles and equipment in preparation for any exigencies.

Additionally, relief camps and community kitchens have been established to support affected citizens, while over 24,000 personnel, including disaster response teams, stand prepared to conduct relief and rescue operations. With an intensified low-pressure system expected over the Bay of Bengal, the civic body, guided by the Chief Minister's advisories and regular reviews, underscores the priority of public safety throughout the region.
