A male cheetah cub met a tragic end after being struck by an unidentified vehicle on a highway near Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district, police reported on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the Ghatigaon area along the Agra-Mumbai National Highway, approximately 35 to 40 kilometers from Gwalior, as confirmed by Gwalior Zone Inspector General of Police Arvind Saxena.
The nearly 20-month-old cub had strayed away from its mother, known as Gamini, a cheetah imported from South Africa to help revitalize India's cheetah population. In response, traffic speeds have been curtailed on the highway to prevent further accidents, as another cub from the same mother is believed to be in the vicinity.
