A forest fire in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district triggered the explosion of several landmines on Sunday, according to official reports.

The blaze ignited around 10 am in the Balakote forest close to the Line of Control, leading to at least half-a-dozen landmine detonations in the anti-infiltration system.

No casualties or damage have been reported so far. Firefighting efforts are ongoing to control the flames that threaten the forward areas lined with landmines to prevent terrorist infiltration across the border.
