Bihar's Strategic Development Boost: Loans, Urbanization, and Infrastructure
The Bihar Cabinet approved a Rs 4,717 crore World Bank loan for urban development. Other decisions include funding electric buses, road maintenance, renaming a medical college, Ganga erosion projects, land transfers for various institutions, and extending BIT Mesra and financial commissions.

The Bihar Cabinet approved a substantial Rs 4,717 crore loan from the World Bank to bolster urban centers and create integrated economic zones, as announced on Wednesday. This move, endorsed in a meeting led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, is set to encourage organized growth, swift urbanization, and sustainable climate-sensitive development across the state.
Moreover, the Cabinet decided to transfer 1.85 acres of BIADA land to the Airports Authority of India, facilitating the expansion of Patna airport. Under the PM-eBus Sewa program, a notable increase in subsidies for 400 electric AC buses over 12 years was also approved, along with Rs 15,967 crore earmarked for the maintenance of 19,305 km of roads utilizing advanced technologies like AI and ML.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the renaming of the Sitamarhi Government Medical College to Maa Sita Government Medical College, sanctioned erosion control projects along the Ganga river in Buxar, and allotted land for Kendriya Vidyalayas. Extensions for agreements with BIT Mesra and the State Finance Commission were also ratified.
