Volgograd Oil Refinery Halted After Ukrainian Drone Strikes

Operations at the Lukoil-owned Volgograd oil refinery in Russia's south have been suspended since May 29, following a Ukrainian drone attack that resulted in a fire and structural damage, according to two industry insiders.

The attack, which local authorities say claimed one life and injured two, forced the shutdown of several major units, including CDU-1, representing 40% of the refinery's capacity.

Lukoil has yet to issue a comment on the incident, which has dealt a significant blow to an installation responsible for processing 5% of Russia's total refinery volume in 2024.
