Sanju Samson's half-century and a swift cameo from Shivam Dube lifted India to a total of 167/6 in their allotted 20 overs during the fifth and final T20I against Zimbabwe on Sunday. India needs to defend 168 runs to clinch the series 4-1.
After being sent in to bat by Zimbabwe, India got off to a flying start with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smacking two sixes off Sikandar Raza's first over. However, Raza soon had his revenge, bowling Jaiswal out for 12. India stumbled to 13/1 inside the first over.
Abhishek Sharma and skipper Shubman Gill briefly stabilized the innings but both fell quickly, leaving India at 40/3. A crucial partnership between Samson and Riyan Parag steadied the ship, and Samson, with a 45-ball 58, was the standout. Late fireworks from Dube lifted India past the 150-run mark, ensuring a competitive total. Top bowlers for Zimbabwe included Blessing Muzarabani with figures of 2/19.
