Sri Lanka Preps for T20 Without Indian Stars
Sri Lanka's interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya revealed that guidance from Zubin Bharucha of Rajasthan Royals has prepared their batters for the upcoming T20 series against India. The series begins on July 27, with India missing key players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli due to their recent retirements.
On Wednesday, Sri Lanka's interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya announced that Zubin Bharucha, high performance director of IPL's Rajasthan Royals, has been instrumental in preparing the team's batters for the upcoming T20 series against India. This preparation comes at a time when India's lineup will be missing star players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli following their recent retirements.
Despite some players' involvement in the Lanka Premier League, Jayasuriya confirmed a six-day intensive camp was held with Bharucha. He emphasized the importance of continuous practice and new techniques, stating, 'It is important to learn as international cricketers new techniques, new approaches, and shot making to be effective.'
The series, set to commence on July 27, gives Sri Lanka a chance to capitalize on the absence of stalwarts like Rohit and Kohli, while adapting to new captaincy under India's Suryakumar Yadav. Jayasuriya urged his team to seize this opportunity despite recent challenges and management changes within the Sri Lankan cricket team.
