Tunisian Wrestler Amine Guenichi Receives Four-Year Doping Ban, Out of Paris 2024 Olympics

Tunisian wrestler Amine Guenichi has been ruled out of the Paris 2024 Olympics after receiving a four-year doping ban from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to a Tunisian federation official.

Guenichi, who won a gold medal at the Arab Games last year in the men's Greco-Roman 130kg category, faced the ban for deliberately defying anti-doping testers, said Montaser Obaidi, technical director of the Tunisian federation.

In November, he refused to let testers into his room at an elite training center, eventually providing a urine sample that tested negative. Subsequent blood tests also came back negative. Despite a provisional suspension and qualifying for Paris 2024 in an Egyptian tournament, WADA appealed the case, leading to the current ban.
