Sri Lanka has set an unwanted record in T20 International cricket, with Charith Asalanka's side registering the most defeats in the format. Their latest loss to India in the third match of the series took their defeat tally to 105, surpassing Bangladesh's 104.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first. The Indian team showcased a balanced batting performance, setting a target with contributions from Shubman Gill, Riyan Parag, and Washington Sundar. Despite their efforts, India posted a modest 137/9 in 20 overs.

The Sri Lankan bowlers, led by Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga, picked up crucial wickets. During their chase, Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis shone, leading Sri Lanka to match India's score and push the game into a super over. However, the Indian bowlers, with standout performances from Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav, restricted Sri Lanka to just 2 runs, securing a swift victory in the super over. Washington Sundar was named Player of the Match and Suryakumar Yadav earned the Player of the Series title.
