Disappointment for Pravin Jhadhav as Paris Olympics Hopes Fade
Indian archer Pravin Jhadhav's Paris Olympics journey ended in the round of 64 after losing in straight sets to China's Kao Wenchao. Despite scoring multiple 10s, Jhadhav lost 0-6. Other Indian men’s archers, veterans Tarundeep Rai, and Dhiraj Boomadevara, also exited the competition earlier in the week.
In a disappointing turn of events, Indian archer Pravin Jhadhav bowed out of the Paris Olympics. Jhadhav lost his individual men's recurve opening round clash in straight sets to Kao Wenchao of China on Thursday.
Jhadhav was defeated 0-6 (28-29, 29-30, 27-28) in the round of 64, even though he shot as many as four 10s during the match. The Chinese archer edged out Jhadhav by just one point in each of the three sets.
This loss marks the end of India's campaign in the men's individual event, as veteran Tarundeep Rai and Dhiraj Boomadevara had also lost their respective knockout matches earlier this week. However, seasoned Deepika Kumari and 18-year-old Bhajan Kaur remain in contention in the women's individual event and will compete in the pre-quarterfinals on Saturday. Both Indian men's and women's teams had earlier exited the tournament in the quarterfinals.
