Cao Yuan's Triumph: China's Historic Diving Sweep at Paris Olympics

Call it the Great Haul of China.

Cao Yuan defended his title in the men's 10-meter platform on Saturday, leading China to an unprecedented sweep of the diving gold medals at the Paris Olympics.

The Big Red Machine won all eight golds at the Olympic Aquatics Centre, most with dominant performances.

However, the final diving event was a test. With teammate Yang Hao faltering and Japan's Rikuto Tamai in close contention, the pressure was on Cao. He delivered, locking the gold with high scores on his toughest dive, a forward 4 1/2 somersaults, finishing with 547.50 points.

Cao's victory marks him the first male diver since Greg Louganis (1988) to win consecutive golds on the 10-meter platform. The 29-year-old now ties Louganis with four career Olympic golds.
