Tom Daley Waves Farewell to Diving Career
Tom Daley, the five-time Olympic medallist, has announced his retirement from diving at the age of 30. Having won silver in Paris and gold in Tokyo, Daley made this decision upon the request of his older son, marking an emotional end to his competitive career.
Tom Daley, known for his spectacular diving career, announced his retirement at the age of 30. The British diver, a five-time Olympic medallist, shared the news on Monday. Daley clinched silver in the men's synchronised 10-meter platform event in Paris and took home gold in the same event in Tokyo in 2021.
Daley had initially retired but decided last year to return to the sport at the request of his older son. The emotional decision came full circle as Daley expressed in an interview with British Vogue.
'It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive,' Daley said. 'But I have to make the decision at some point, and it feels like the right time. It's the right time to call it a day.'
