Sri Lanka Nears Victory in Thrilling Test Match Finale

Sri Lanka was in prime position for a victory over England at The Oval after reaching 94-1 in pursuit of 219. Pathum Nissanka led with an unbeaten 53, forming a solid partnership with Kusal Mendis. Despite already losing the series, Sri Lanka's dominant performance has set a remarkable scene.

Sri Lanka closed in on a series-ending victory over England, reaching 94-1 in their chase for 219 during the third test at The Oval on Sunday.

After bowling out England for a paltry 156, Sri Lanka retained momentum late on Day 3 as Pathum Nissanka scored an unbeaten 53, partnering with Kusal Mendis who also remained not out at 30.

The visitors need 125 more runs to win; however, the series is already lost following defeats in Manchester and Lord's. England aims for a second consecutive series sweep after a 3-0 win over the West Indies in July.

It was a dominant day for Sri Lanka in south London, starting with 211-5 and eventually being dismissed for 263, trailing by just 62 runs from their first innings. They then bowled out England's batting lineup in just 34 overs.
