Sri Lanka Triumphs Over New Zealand in Galle Opener

Sri Lanka won against New Zealand by 63 runs in the first test match held in Galle, thus taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. New Zealand, chasing a target of 275 runs, was bowled out for 211 with Rachin Ravindra top-scoring for them. Sri Lanka’s spinners, Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis, played pivotal roles in securing the win.

Sri Lanka emerged victorious against New Zealand by 63 runs in the first test match in Galle, securing a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. New Zealand, needing 275 runs to win, fell short by 64 runs, all out at 211.

Rachin Ravindra stood out for the visitors with a fighting innings of 92 runs. Sri Lanka's spinners, Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis, were instrumental in the win, with Jayasuriya taking five wickets for 68 runs and Mendis claiming three for 83 runs.

The second test match is scheduled to begin on Thursday at the same venue in Galle.
