Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque etched his name in history by becoming only the second player from his country to score a Test century on Indian soil. This significant achievement occurred during the second Test match against India at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium.
Mominul anchored Bangladesh's first innings with a resilient 107 off 194 balls, featuring 17 fours and a six. His milestone follows veteran Mushfiqur Rahim's 127 against India in Hyderabad in 2017. Since debuting in 2013, Mominul has accumulated 4,263 runs in 65 Tests, boasting an average of 38.75, with 13 centuries and 19 fifties.
India opted to field after winning the toss. Initial interruptions saw the match halted at 107/3 on day one, with no play on days two and three due to rain and a wet outfield. Play resumed on day four, highlighted by contributions from Shadman Islam (24) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (31). Mominul fought valiantly against Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. A vital 54-run partnership with Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped Bangladesh reach 233/10. Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian bowling attack, claiming 3/50.
India had dominated the first Test, winning by 280 runs. Key performances by Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah sealed India's victory. Currently, India leads the two-match series 1-0.
The playing XI for India included Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj.
