The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confronting financial difficulties as the expenses for upgrading and reconstructing its stadiums soar beyond five billion rupees, just ahead of the anticipated Champions Trophy.
Originally budgeted at 12.3 billion rupees for the stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, the costs have escalated to 18 billion rupees. The tournament kicks off on February 19, with India's matches scheduled in Dubai from February 20.
The PCB's Board of Governors has sanctioned the additional spending, and the Chief Financial Officer has been authorized to seek a financial overdraft ranging from 3 to 6 billion rupees if necessary. Discussions from a December board meeting highlight the need for external financial support to meet future cash flow demands.
