The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has unveiled plans to launch a pioneering graduation program for cricketers in collaboration with Mumbai University and revitalize its T20 Mumbai League starting May 27. These initiatives were confirmed during an apex council meeting, marking a significant move since the league was last held in 2019.
Among the major decisions, the MCA aims to introduce a tailored graduation curriculum focusing on practical training for aspiring cricketers. This program is designed to provide comprehensive skills essential for professional advancement while concurrently securing academic achievements. Additionally, a UK tour for promising young cricketers is planned to offer them exposure to international cricket conditions and high-level competition.
MCA's efforts also include the establishment of a new cricket academy in Thane district, following a land lease agreement with the Thane Municipal Corporation. The academy will focus on grassroots development, providing premier coaching facilities to nurture the next generation of cricket talent, thereby reinforcing the region's cricketing infrastructure.
