In a thrilling display of resilience, Bangladesh's Jaker Ali played a memorable knock of 68 runs off 114 balls, steering his team to a respectable total of 228 in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash against India. Despite an early batting collapse, Ali's crucial innings, which included four boundaries, stabilized the innings alongside Towhid Hridoy, leading to a historic 154-run partnership for the sixth wicket in Dubai.
The partnership set a new benchmark, marking the highest sixth-wicket stand or lower in the history of the Champions Trophy, reviving Bangladesh from a precarious position of 35/5. Reflecting on the challenging conditions, Jaker Ali admitted the early setbacks made the task of revival difficult. "It was challenging at the beginning as we lost five wickets swiftly, but Towhid and I aimed to achieve a competitive score," he told reporters.
Discussing his approach, Jaker shared his intent to accelerate the innings further, but maturely acknowledged being dismissed prematurely. "Our strategy was to take the match deep," he explained, highlighting the tricky condition of the Dubai pitch which offered assistance to spinners.
