Tennis star Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament. This decision comes a day after Sinner experienced illness, forcing him to exit early from the Cincinnati Open final.
Sinner, who holds the top singles ranking and is the defending champion at Flushing Meadows, was slated to team up with Katerina Siniakova in the mixed doubles event.
The United States Tennis Association made the announcement shortly before the event's start, stating that an alternate duo holds the highest combined singles ranking would take Sinner and Siniakova's spot in the draw.
