Argentina's legendary World Cup winner Lionel Messi is reportedly close to signing a multi-year contract extension with Inter Miami, according to ESPN. Negotiations are nearing completion with only a handful of details remaining, and the agreement will soon be sent to Major League Soccer for final approval.
Despite previous links to other clubs, both Messi and Inter Miami have shown mutual interest in extending their collaboration both on and off the field. Messi's move from Paris Saint-Germain to Inter Miami in July 2023 marked a new chapter, and he quickly led the team to victory in the inaugural 2023 Leagues Cup.
With Messi's arrival, Inter Miami shattered league records for points in a single season and secured the 2024 Supporters' Shield. This year, Messi has played 36 matches, scoring 28 goals and providing 14 assists, becoming the club's all-time top scorer with 41 goals. Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas assured that the club remains committed to ensuring Messi's comfort and long-term future in South Florida.
