UEFA has taken decisive action against Atletico Madrid, imposing fines and probation following racist incidents by fans at a Champions League fixture against Arsenal.
The Spanish club was penalized for fans' offensive gestures, including monkey chants and Nazi salutes, during their 4-0 defeat in London last month.
This marks yet another instance of Atletico fans directing racial abuse towards players, notably targeting Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior in the past. UEFA fined the club 30,000 euros and imposed a deferred one-game ticket sales ban for European away matches, alongside a 10,000-euro penalty for objects thrown at Arsenal's stadium.
