An Indian Army team from the Eastern Command made history by becoming the first to scale Arunachal Pradesh's tallest peak, Mount Kangto, standing at 7,042 metres, as announced by a defence spokesperson on Friday.

Tackling the formidable southern route, long deemed impassable, the team successfully reached the peak, demonstrating extraordinary courage and determination as praised by Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Athul Sreedharan.

Flagged in by Lt Gen RC Tiwari, Army Commander of Eastern Command, the 18-member expedition was lauded for their remarkable feat that honors the grandeur of the Eastern Himalayas and highlights the Indian Army's resilience and operational prowess.
