South Africa A prepares for an exciting cricket tour against the England Lions, scheduled to start from May 22 in England. The squad, headlined by Dane Paterson, Ottneil Baartman, and Tony de Zorzi, will play two four-day matches followed by a one-day series. Notably, Marques Ackerman will captain both sides.

The return of 37-year-old Paterson marks a significant moment, having not played in a Test since December 2024. With a busy home season ahead, featuring eight Tests, Paterson's inclusion in the SA A squad is seen as a potential stepping stone back to full international duty.

SA A head coach Wandile Gwavu emphasized the importance of retaining a core group of players who perform consistently. Highlighting the challenging English conditions, Gwavu noted the opportunity for both seasoned players like Paterson and emerging talents like 19-year-old Nqobani Mokoena to shine and prepare for future opportunities at the Proteas level.
