IPL Final Venue Shift Sparks Debate in Cricket World
The Indian Premier League (IPL) final has been relocated from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad due to logistical challenges. Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium faced scrutiny after a tragic incident last year. Local authorities expressed disappointment but acknowledged BCCI's decision. The new schedule includes matches in Dharamsala, New Chandigarh, and Ahmedabad.
The final of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) has been relocated to Ahmedabad due to operational and logistical challenges at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. This decision follows a review by local authorities, which was prompted by a tragic stampede last year, claiming 11 lives.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) expressed disappointment, having prepared extensively to host this prestigious event. Despite their efforts, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reallocated the venue, citing requirements that surpassed BCCI’s guidelines.
The revised playoff schedule designates Dharamsala for the first qualifier, New Chandigarh for the eliminator and second qualifier, and Ahmedabad for the final. The Narendra Modi Stadium, known for hosting major events, will welcome the IPL final for the fourth time in five years.
