In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, India's Pooja Singh shattered a 14-year-old national record in the women's high jump by clearing 1.93 meters at the U20 Athletics Championships in Hong Kong. Her stunning achievement secured her a well-deserved gold medal, demonstrating India's rising dominance in athletics.
Rahul Jakhar led a spectacular 1-2 finish for India in the decathlon, clinching the gold medal and setting a new U20 national record with 7,185 points. His performance, marked by personal bests in seven out of the ten events, underscores the depth of talent in India's young athletes.
A total of 48 Indian athletes are representing the country at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships 2026 from May 28 to 31. This cadre, selected from rigorous domestic competitions, aims to qualify for the World U20 Athletics Championships in August, further emphasizing India's commitment to nurturing its sporting talent.
