Star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has assured fans of his readiness ahead of Portugal's 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Congo DR on June 17, expressing confidence in his team's campaign at the prestigious event, as reported by ESPN. Despite not scoring during warm-up matches against Chile and Nigeria, Ronaldo displayed optimism.

The 41-year-old Portugal captain, in a statement to reporters before departing for the United States, affirmed his fitness. "Physically? I'm fine -- have you not seen my matches?" he quipped. Ronaldo also commended his team's preparations for the World Cup, which spans the US, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19.

"It's been a good but tiring preparation because we've worked hard," Ronaldo remarked. "As the tournament begins, the pressure mounts, and that's when champions emerge," he added. Portugal, yet to win a World Cup, looks to its solid squad, featuring talents like Bruno Fernandes, to carry their hopes.
