Ukraine's air force announced on Friday that it has shared a preliminary report with U.S. partners regarding an F-16 jet crash that occurred on Monday.
Mykola Oleshchuk stated on Telegram that U.S. partners, where the F-16 aircraft is manufactured, are aiding the investigation. The Ukrainian military disclosed that the F-16 crashed, resulting in the pilot's death, as it approached a target during a significant Russian air strike on Monday.
A U.S. defense official informed Reuters that Russian fire did not seem to be the cause of the crash, with pilot error and mechanical failure still under consideration. Deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh mentioned on Thursday that the U.S. had not been asked to take part in the investigation.
The arrival of the first F-16 jets marked a significant milestone for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia, which began 2-1/2 years ago.
